A KBIA Waterfront Campaign
2022-2023
The KBIA waterfront is a special place for our campers, full of exploration and adventure. It’s where our campers build a love and respect for our coastal environment and gather a lifetime of memories. As stewards of the Cove and Waterfront for this generation and the next, we are in the midst of a capital campaign to Shore Up Our Future. Our goal is to raise $200,000 in 2022-2023.
As of Aug. 25, 2023, we have raised $180,000 — and we still need help to raise the final $20,000!
Your gift will support the next generation of KBIA sailors, paddlers, and adventurers.
Rising tides and increasingly destructive winter storms, such as the storm we weathered on Dec. 23, 2022, have made it a priority to ensure our structures and access points for our coastal programming can thrive amid shifting conditions and serve KBIA for many future summers. Your gift will make an immediate impact and support current critical needs required to update equipment and ensure safety on the waterfront. Important preventative work includes:
- Raising the pier in consultation with Custom Floats and industry experts to address flood plains alongside the Town of Kennebunk
- Repairing and replacing all the docks and floats
- Investing in taller pilings
- New boat racks for entire fleet
- Repairs to the current laser fleet
- Replacing motorboat in our fleet either through secondhand donation or new acquisitions
- One new laser float to increase enrollment in laser classes
- One new deep-water dock
- Acquiring 2 new lasers
