KBIA is a not-for-profit organization and we’re proud to offer scholarships to children of the Kennebunk area – ensuring that everyone can benefit from and enjoy an inspiring, fun-filled summer.
In an effort to answer community needs, the KBIA Administration works with the RSU21 Guidance counselors at all our schools to identify scholarship recipients. Please call the KBIA office or our Scholarship & Events Coordinator for more information about KBIA scholarship opportunities or contact your school guidance counselor to indicate your interest in one of our 4-week programming scholarships.
Additionally, KBIA hosts a Weekend Community Swim Program to provide swim lessons for local children over the course of seven weeks (one 30-minute lesson every Saturday morning). For more information, please contact our Scholarship & Events Coordinator, Emily Gannon.
All instruction will be provided by Red Cross certified lifeguards (two instructors per class and a third lifeguard on duty to supervise the safety of the children in the pool). The program will also rely on our Scholarship & Events Coordinator, Emily Gannon, who serves as a point of contact for all parents and students prior to the summer and during the Saturday morning programming. All the lessons will be provided free of charge, though each student will be responsible for a $25 registration fee.
Classes will be held weekly at the following times:
- 9-9:30am (8 children ages 5-6)
- 9:30-10am (8 children ages 5-6)
- 10-10:30am (8 children ages 7-8)
- 10:30-11am (8 children ages 7-8)
Reid R. Sacco Memorial Foundation Scholarship
Reid Sacco was a long standing member of the KBIA community and a beloved, skilled sailing instructor. The Reid R. Sacco Memorial Foundation awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who qualify on the basis of their pursuit of excellence in academics, athletics and their strength of character and perseverance. Haley Peterson, a tennis counselor at KBIA the summer of 2014, received a scholarship from the foundation. She will apply the funds to her studies at Georgetown University.
