News from the Beach
June 18, 2018
Let’s get this summer started!

Summer is here and we are so happy!  We officially open the KBIA office on Monday, June 18th, and KBIA classes commence on Season Opening Day, Monday, June 25th. Thanks to our hard-working faculty and staff, we are ready to welcome new faces and welcome back old friends. And if you want to bring a friend, please do!  As always, Week 1 requires NO membership fee to register for classes, so this is a great time to share the KBIA experience or even check us out for the first time. See you Opening Day!

Registration reminder

It’s been a busy spring for us in the office at KBIA, and we thank all of our pre-registered families for helping us in advance. Just a reminder that registration is first come, first served, and classes are filling up!  Send all required paperwork to [email protected].

We are open this week in anticipation of Opening Day, so don’t hesitate to contact us! We can answer many questions by phone, however, class registrations must be requested in writing by fax, email or regular mail. All forms necessary are available on our website at www.kbia.net. Hard copies of the 2018 Registration Guide are available through the office.

Reminder that we are now at the two week out point for withdrawing from Week 1 classes with only a $10 administration fee per class.  See page 26 of the Registration Guide for details.

As of June 18 our office hours are:

Monday: 8 AM to 5 PM
TuesdayFriday: 9 AM to 12 PM | 1 to 4 PM

Never been to KBIA? We are
waiving our membership during Week 1 (June 25 – 29), so now is a great time to check us out!

Children ages 2 and up may register for swimming, golf, sailing, kayaking, arts and nature courses (and so much more!) from June 25-29 and pay only the cost of the individual classes. Membership, which is open to the public, is otherwise required for Weeks 2-8. Campers register by the week, and classes are offered a la carte or as a “bundle” for morning and/or afternoon sessions.

Family memberships include twice-daily open swims for children, weekly beach bonfire barbecues,  and open sail/kayaks on most weekends.  KBIA also hosts an annual Seaside Celebration for adult members to enjoy cocktails and appetizers by the cove – invite your friends and family to join in the fun!

A Day at the Beach Road Race

KBIA 5k Road Race & 1k Kids Fun Run
Sunday, July 9

Registration is open for our KBIA 5k/1k road race on Sunday, July 8th. The 1K Kids Fun Run will start at 8:30am, followed by the 5K Road Race at 9am. Both races start and finish by Mother’s Beach playground.

This is a really fun event for the whole family – a beautiful, easy course by the seaside, medals for the kids fun run, and awards after the race.

Again this year KBIA has partnered with Kids Free to Grow – York County’s child abuse prevention council to host the road race.  All proceeds go to KBIA Scholarships and Kids Free to Grow – we thank you for your generosity! To check out more about Kids Free to Grow and their mission, visit their website.

If you are looking to participate in another way, we are also looking for volunteers.  A fun way to get involved with a great fundraiser benefiting KBIA summer programs!
