Ready, Set, Sail — Regatta Sunday is here

KBIA Families,

This Sunday, Aug. 2, KBIA Sailing is hosting the annual Reid Sacco Regatta. The regatta is held each summer in honor of Reid Sacco, a sailing instructor at KBIA whom we lost to sarcoma in April 2005. Reid was just 20 years old.

Reid embodied the very spirit of KBIA, bringing the best of summer to every camper and member of our community. The regatta is a wonderful way to celebrate Reid’s legacy with participants of all ages and sailing abilities. The Sacco family also graciously provides treats and awards for the sailors each year.

The skippers’ meeting will begin at 12 p.m., and the first race will start at 12:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will conclude the day around 4 p.m. Registration is free; please preregister here.

You may learn more about Reid’s life, or find ways to support the Adolescent and Youth Cancer Alliance, on the Reid Sacco Foundation website.

I hope to see you all there … as a sailor or a spectator!

Best,

Nolan Byron
Race Program Director & Lead Sailing Instructor
