Hello Summer!

This is it: SUMMER!

Saturday marks the first day of the summer season, and Monday is Opening Day 2014 at KBIA. Thanks to our hard-working faculty and staff, we are ready to welcome new faces and welcome back old friends. And if you want to bring a friend, please do! Again this year we will waive the membership fee for all Week 1 participants, so this is a great time to share the KBIA experience or even check us out for the first time! See you Monday!

Registration reminder

It’s been a busy spring for us in the office at KBIA, and we thank all of our preregistered families for helping us in advance. Going forward, on Mondays our staff will focus on registering children for the immediate week ahead before they work on future weeks. Please be advised our summer office hours are:

8 AM to 5 PM Mondays
9 AM to 4 PM Tuesdays — Fridays
(and closed 12-1 PM for lunch)

‘This table is reserved’

Back by popular demand, we have bundled some of our most popular classes to give children a three-hour (or, with tennis, four-hour) period of KBIA programming with supervision included between classes.

New this year, we have added a Bundle
Coordinator position to oversee the children and throughout the day with the Bundle Counselors, and we will reserve two picnic tables exclusively for these children and their counselors. For those children who opt for the extended hour, we will have a reserved spot for their belongings while they are at their tennis lessons. Please look for the blue wheelbarrow!

And as a reminder for the bundles, parents drop off their child at the first class and pick them up at their last class.

Next week at KBIA

TWEEN NIGHT: Pool Party & Pizza, 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, at the KBIA pool. $22.

MOVIE NIGHT: “Rio 1,” 7 to 9 PM Wednesday. $7.
** Like last year, Movie Night is limited to 55 children; therefore, we highly recommend parents pre-register their children at the office. Please be prepared to be turned away if the maximum has been met when you arrive.*

TEEN NIGHT: Mini Golf at Wonder Mountain and Ice Cream at the Scoop Deck, both in Wells. 7 to 9 PM Thursday. $24.

Please pre-register for all events at the office so we may accurately plan for transportation and admission fees.

Sail the Cove! Kayak the Cove!

There’s nothing quite like the feel of setting sail in the Cove — or paddling its gentle waters. We invite members of all ages to enjoy KBIA’s spectacular waterfront during our scheduled “Open Sail” sessions, which are available to all KBIA members (parents, grandparents and children) who would like to independently enjoy the Cove in one of KBIA’s sailboats or kayaks. Previous sailing and kayaking experience is required, as well as a life jacket and closed-toe water shoes.

Explore the Cove on guided walk

At high tide, the Cove at KBIA provides just enough water to swim, sail and explore the waters wih a paddle. It’s a whole new world at low tide, however, where snails, crabs and other creaturescan be found. Come explore the majestic Cove at low tide on a guided walk during low tide and see all the natural treasures you can find!

KBIA has got the blues

If you haven’t visited our camp office yet, we hope you find some excuse to do so. We’ve reworked our walk-up registration window to serve you better, and our walls are now a freshly painted beachy blue. Upstairs, we’ve reconfigured the pottery studio and overhauled the bathroom to be a two-stall ADA-compliant facility. And our Starfish room will always be bright and sunny, thanks to a new coat of yellow paint!
