For more than a century, the Kennebunk Beach Improvement Association (KBIA) has been a place where children grow, explore, and discover their best selves along the beautiful Maine coast. As a community-based, not-for-profit organization, KBIA relies on the generosity of our members and friends to sustain the programs, facilities, and traditions that have shaped five generations of families.

Our Mission & Community Impact
At KBIA, children are encouraged to be curious, confident, and adventurous as they explore the rugged beauty of the coast, learn new skills, and build friendships that last a lifetime. We are especially proud of:
- Scholarship opportunities that ensure local children can participate regardless of financial circumstance; in 2025 we served 13 students with nearly $43,000 worth of classes and membership benefits.
- Community stewardship, including maintaining the playground, bath facilities, and a clean, family-friendly Mother’s Beach environment
- Signature community events, such as KBIA Day at the Beach and our annual Road Race
- A living legacy, serving as the community green of Kennebunk Beach since 1910

Why Membership Matters
Membership dues are a vital part of KBIA’s financial foundation. They help maintain our campus, support our staff, provide scholarships, and keep program costs accessible for families.
To meet rising operational costs—including facilities maintenance, utilities, insurance, and other essential expenses—the KBIA Board of Directors approved a membership fee adjustment to support long-term financial sustainability.
