Baby Lobsters, Gymnasts and Waves of Joy!
Hello, KBIAers!
Week 8. Unreal. Is this the quickest summer yet? I believe so. What a trip it has been.
In last week’s Island and Seaside Exploration class, campers travelled to the flats of Cape Porpoise with Nancy and Amy to see what they could find. The sea did not disappoint! Hazel and Calvin got their hands on some baby lobsters as the sun shone and the water sparkled. What a class.

In Anna Beth’s Beach Games class last week, she had the kids play a classic game of sharks and minnows. Once the heat got to be too much, she let the kids go in the ocean to cool off. Having been the original teacher of Beach Games, I love to see Anna Beth create such a fun and active environment for campers. I am proud of her and all of our campers who get active each week!

For this week’s shoutout, I point to Susan Strachan, or the Queen of the Starfish, Miss Susan. I grew up at KBIA with Susan’s daughter, Gracyn, and can safely say that they are a family of the utmost love and joy. For many campers, Starfish is the first step in their journey at KBIA. There is no one more experienced and beloved than Miss Susan, who leads her squadron of children with laughter and a sense of community. For many Starfish, Miss Susan is there for their first KBIA class, their first dip in the pool, and even their first camp friendship. A truly spectacular woman.
