KBIA August Days Ahead

Can you believe that August is right around the corner?! Our onsite classes have been running so well and we have loved seeing kids and parents on campus again. The best part of our summer truly is seeing kids and families experiencing KBIA summers. We are excited to see more familiar faces at our 110th Seaside Celebration this weekend and thank all of you, near and far, for your support of this event. Remember that even if you aren’t local, you can still participate in the online silent auction and/or donate. More events are coming up, please read on!

Best,

KBIA Seaside Celebration Details

The Seaside Celebration is traditionally a way of thanking our membership for making our KBIA community thrive. This year is no different. We are also honoring three members of the community who left us this year – Annie McNamara Evans, Tony Viehmann, and Dr. David McConnell. We will be announcing our plans to honor their legacies at the event.
Rest assured, we will be taking all safety precautions for our event with individually plated appetizers for our guests and drinks served in pre-packaged containers. We will be asking our guests to sign a COVID-19 waiver on the day of the event and to bring a mask to wear should keeping 6-10 feet distance from other guests prove a challenge.
The Seaside will be held across two sites this year. Each area can accommodate a maximum of 50 people. The sites are as follows:
  1. KBIA Lawn with live music on the porch
  2. Bonfire on Mother’s Beach
We will announce the winners of the online silent auction and hold a live auction for limited items starting at 7:30pm. The live auction items include:
  1. A painted rowboat made by the KBIA Boatbuilding class
  2. Four framed original drawings of the sites of KBIA (the featured art on our new coffee mugs and coasters)
  3. A KBIA parking spot for the 2021 summer season
In the spirit of maintaining our financial health this year we are asking that those who join us, please make a donation to attend to allow this event to be cost neutral to KBIA. The suggested donation is $25/person. We can accept this in advance or on site at the event.
Today, our silent auction opens and bidding will close on Saturday, August 1st at 4pm. Check out our fantastic offerings and bid online here:

Note: You do not have to be local to bid on or win items!
Due to limited space, we are asking that all attendees RSVP to attend by 3:30pm, Friday, July 31 via email to [email protected] or by phone at 207-967-2180.

Virtual ‘A Day at the Beach’ 5K
Running for Annie

Thank you to all of our 115 registered runners who helped support our Virtual Road Race this past weekend. Runners from Maine to California and up to Canada joined in the fun! With your help, we raised nearly $2,500 that will be matched by the Bauman Family for a total of $5,000 to The Dempsey Center.

This amazing donation will be made in honor of  Annie McNamara Evans, a longtime supporter of KBIA and former counselor, who recently lost her courageous battle with cancer.
The Dempsey Center provides services that can help cancer patients manage the emotional, mental and physical impact of cancer.

We are so grateful to all who contributed to a cause near and dear to our hearts. Thank you!
