Week 5: Summer adventures

Dear

“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Summer may be halfway over, but we still have half of summer left! And remember, we are lucky enough to be open for nine weeks this season, rather than the usual eight.  Whichever way you look at it, all of us at KBIA are ready and excited to get week five’s adventures underway.

Make the most of this summer and sign up for an activity that opens your child to a new perspective, a new skill, a new friend.  Swimming, surfing, tennis…sailing, woodworking, nature…reading, painting, drama…there is something for everyone.  With so many to choose from, we encourage you to come visit our office if you need assistance.  Office hours are Monday 8 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday to Friday 9 AM to 12 PM and 1 to 4 PM.  See you at the beach!

Please join us at KBIA this Saturday, July 25, for the first of our two annual barbecue and awards ceremonies.  The July BBQ and Awards Ceremony will kick off with assorted watersports in the pool for various ages:

9 to 9:30 AM: 3- 4 year olds
9:30 to 10 AM: 5- 6 year olds
10 to 10:30 AM: 7- 8 year olds
10:30 to 11 AM: 9 and older
11 AM: Free swim for all ages

At noon, KBIA volunteers will serve up a barbecue lunch.

At 1 PM, we will begin the awards portion of the day, handing out various KBIA “wedges” and traditional KBIA honors.

From 6 to 8:30 PM, please join us on the KBIA lawn for our seventh annual Seaside Celebration.  In honor of our “older” members of this KBIA community (21 and older, please), we will be serving up cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres by the cove.

Auction items available to bid on at the Seaside include:
1) One parking space for the 2016 season — convenient to your favorite summer enrichment program and one of the best beaches around!

2) Pool party at the KBIA pool for up to 20 swimmers for before the end of the 2016 season.

If you would like to bid on either auction item but cannot attend the Seaside, please contact Martin Lodish.

It’s not too late to RSVP, please come celebrate summer with us!

Cheers to our KBIA sailors!

At the UNH Deadfish Regatta, Madeleine Montagner and Peter Mitchell took first in the FJ fleet.

At the BPYC Pram Regatta, Nick Reszetnik took first and Ryan Palmer took second.

Two teams of sailors represented KBIA at the Junior Olympics last week in Camden, along with 50 other teams of sailors.  In this very competitive regatta, our teams placed 29th and 33rd!

We are so proud of these accomplished sailors, congratulations to all!
